Researching schools in any new neighborhood you plan to move to is always at the top of the list for families. Lake Holiday is no different. Served by Frederick County Public Schools and a number of private schools, Lake Holiday residents enjoy dedicated teachers and newer buildings, including a new middle school that will open for the 2016-2017 school year.
All schools have buses that serve Lake Holiday. The bus stop is located directly next to the office on Redland Rd. The buses enter from Redland Rd while residents can enter from inside the community at the corner of Colonial Dr and Lake Holiday Rd for safety.

Gainesboro opened in 2007 and has a capacity of 688 students. The school was built due to increased enrollment at the two former elementary schools.
Frederick County Middle School

Serving grades 6th through 8th, FCMS is currently the oldest school building in use, having opened in 1965. The new FCMS is planned to open in 2016. The current building has a capacity of 730, and with 671 students enrolled in 2016 the new building is much needed and will be able to educate the growing population with a capacity of around 900 students. The new building will be located directly next to Gainesboro Elementary. You can see a preview of the building and construction updates here.

James Wood High School serves 9th through 12th graders. James Wood opened in 1980 and has a capacity of 1400 students.

The Independent School of Winchester
