As a prior board member and a resident that enjoys Lake Holiday, I am campaigning for the five candidates that I believe have the best interests of the community in mind. Please join me in voting for the following residents:

As a 16-year resident and prior board member, I believe it is important for our potential residents and current residents to understand the process and make sure they vote when eligible. Local elections affect our daily lives in much more meaningful ways almost immediately, and while we may feel powerless at times to shape the direction of a town, a state, or the nation — one place where you absolutely can make a meaningful impact — is your community. As a community, the Lake Holiday Board of Directors approves our annual budget which is what forms the basis of our monthly HOA dues. They also make decisions to other fees charged in the community such as boat registration, marina slip rentals, clubhouse usage and more. They create, revise, and oversee the enforcement of the rules of our community.
As often is the case in higher level elections, our community frequently sees low voter turnout, despite being able to mail in votes. The voting numbers typically hover around the low-to-mid 300s in a community with nearly 2000 property owners. I am continuing to make a concerted effort to help you understand how to vote, and tell you who I believe will help protect property values and grow our community in the most positive manner.
2017 MEMBERSHIP ANNUAL MEETING & ELECTION: OCTOBER 28, 2017: Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. and the meeting commences at 10:00 a.m.
October 26th Deadline – Mail in absentee ballots or proxies to make sure they arrive in time to be counted at the Administrative Office. They must be received by 5:00 p.m. on October 26th.
October 28th – Voting ends at 10:30 a.m. for in-person voting. If you can, you should attend to vote in person and hear Lake Holiday news, accomplishments from the 2016-2017 cycle, and what is ahead for the new board directors and community for the 2017-2018 cycle.
Last year, “The New Wave” Candidates swept the election. The positive results over the last year from this board were numerous and outstanding; from streamlining processes; restarting previously deleted committees; kicking off a comprehensive Lake Management Program to ensure the health and usability of our lake well into the future; improved technology at the Clubhouse and Administration Office; and a fantastic Community Master Plan! The community took a chance on voting in something different and it paid off!
These five candidates strongly support just these types of community-improvement initiatives, and have had direct hands-on contributions to many of those mentioned and the long list of those not mentioned. If you want smart, hard workers over figureheads on the Board of Directors, trust the process. I believe the results of our campaign efforts last year speak volumes, and I strongly believe that these are the five candidates that will continue to move our community forward into the future in even more positive ways.
So I urge you to support “The Next Wave” Candidates. The candidates above who I am fully supporting (and am urging you to support, too) represent the very best mix of established residents with a deep understanding of the community and a demonstrated history of helping out many others in the community (both officially and unofficially) — in combination with newer members who can offer a fresh look, fresh perspectives, and fresh ideas to support all of the wonderful initiatives that are now flourishing in the community.
The top 5 vote-getters will fill the open board vacancies; there are three 3-year terms and two 1-year terms open in 2017.
Please make the above five your selections for the coming year and add to the board a fine group of people who know how to work hard for the betterment of everyone in the community!
ABSENTEE VOTING (MAIL IN VOTING): If you are unable to attend the annual meeting in-person, you are entitled to vote by absentee ballot which you will receive in the mail. The rules for absentee voting are simple, yet many votes are discarded each year because the requirements are not met. They are…
1. Only vote for FIVE (5) candidates, if you vote for more, none of your votes will be counted. Only ONE ballot per household, if you fill out more than one none of your votes will be counted. The absentee ballot must be in writing.
2. Though the Election and Voting PRP-16 was revised to eliminate the need for two witness signatures on the ballot envelope, there is a provision in the Bylaws about the need for two witness, therefore it is strongly recommended that you still obtain two witness signatures on the ballot envelope until that matter is more clearly rectified.
3. SIGN THE BALLOT ENVELOPE! You will need your section and lot number, if you don’t know it text me at 540-999-8826 and I will figure it out for you! You can also find it on your HOA payment coupons.
4. The absentee ballot must be filed with the Secretary of the Association by 5:00 p.m. on October 26th. You can drop it off at the clubhouse office during business hours, mail it in, or drop it through the mail drop for payments at the front gate. Need help? Call me! 540-999-8826.
