Lake Holiday’s history as a private community included most of the utility services as well. Today we are served by outside agencies that have improved our utility services tremendously. Whether you are renting or buying in Lake Holiday, you will need some specific information to access services.
Electricity – Shenandoah Electric Cooperative provides our electrical services. You can check your bill online and order service by calling them at 1-800-234-7832. They are very responsive to our needs, especially during the winters when lines may go down due to snow and ice.
Trash – Our trash facility is a bit different than most communities. Due to the hilly, curved roads we are not serviced by traditional trash trucks. We have a compacter located to the right after the gatehouse that is accessed by vehicle stickers that raise the gates. Trash is put into the compacter and then a simple button is pushed that moves the trash through the compacter. Lake Holiday also provides a dumpster for leaves and such and we have full access to the Gainesboro recycling facility just down the road.
Water and Sewer – Lake Holiday sold it’s private water facility to Aqua America that now serves all Lake Holiday residents. Wells are not allowed due to deed restrictions in Lake Holiday. Aqua can be accessed online or by calling them at 877-987-2782
Phone and Cable – Verizon and Comcast serve almost all of Lake Holiday. Dish Network and Direct TV are also available.
Mail – Each section in Lake Holiday has their own mail station. The post office assigns boxes individually. When you buy or lease a home you will need to visit the post office which is located next to Shawnee Springs on 522. You will need your purchase papers (HUD1) or your lease. You will be given a mailbox number and keys.
Propane – There are several propane servicing companies available. Most tanks in Lake Holiday are leased so you will need a contract with the company that owns the tank. Holtzman and Amerigas own most of them.
Gate – Of course the most important service in Lake Holiday is the 24 hour manned security gate. When you buy your home or sign a lease you will need to make time to visit the property management office. They will help you register your vehicles, get stickers for quick lane access and trash services, as well as register any boats that you may have. They will also give you online access to register guests and information on how to call them into the gate as needed.
